Excitement

Ok, so you know when women go shopping and get all excited about it and love it?  The exact same could be said for me last weekend when I headed into The Home Show. #butterflies #excitement #childonchristmasday

My journey started off early on Saturday morning at Stirling train station with my Father-In-Law a.k.a. Oliver. I had my Perway work shirt on and my business cards packed away into my back pocket, ready for the day ahead. 5 stops later and we arrived at Elizabeth Quay station and pottered over to the Convention Centre, stopping firstly for our caffeine boost 🙂 Whilst waiting for the coffee, I did a live Facebook video showing people some of the upcoming cool and exciting stuff that we might see that day. To be honest, this was my first ever show to go to in my 8 years living in Perth.  YES I’M SERIOUS!! Sadly, I was never able to make it before as I was either working or had some other commitment on the same weekend as The Perth Home Show was held.

Stalls

When the coffee was in, we started our journey around the many, many stalls of the Convention Centre. On my first stall, we encountered a product called Robopower Window Washer. Seriously we laugh now, but this is the future.  We’ll have a machine for everything. There was also a Wet& Dry Mop, so please, no more excuses for dirty floors and windows from now on 😊.

Another stall showcased a built in BBQ area with stainless steel burner and built in cabinets and not to mention a Bar fridge.  The total package was going for just over $10k. Outdoor living in Australia would be great with one of these in your back area.

Soon after, Luxe Ceramics caught my attention with their big, bold & beautiful tiles. One of the staff members told me, if I am correct with my memory, they are now offering tiles at around $99 a tile.  I just love them!! Watch this space, these are going be popping up everywhere.

Around the corner, I seen an interesting stall called ‘Box Property Management’ offering 11% flat rate Management Fees. Basically, a rental company that offers no more 2 week leasing fees, no more routine inspections and no more bonds.  I think rental income has to be over $350.  Definitely worth a look if you are an investor.

The Future

I was already an hour in, had only 1 section completed and had told the wifey that we would be back within 3 hours or so (hmmm someone is going to be in the doghouse). I thought, i’ll take the chance with her and continued on.  Now, for those of you who are building or buying a home and can’t visualize what your final home product will look like, well you have to check out Absolute VR.  Dan and his team are going take visualisation to a whole new level – virtual reality of your home at your finger tips. It’s absolutely fantastic to be able to see everything placed around your home. Great work guys!

My next port of call was the double glazing stand. PERTH, honestly I’m living here now for 8 years and can’t believe I do not see more of this.  For those who don’t understand the benefits of double glazing – during Winter all your heat rises and escapes out through your single glaze windows & through your roof.  Doubling up on glazing and insulation will not only keep the warmth within the surrounds of your home in Winter but it will also keep your house a lot cooler during the Summer months.  It will also keep those heating and air conditioning bills down too.

Have you ever driven off from your home and thought, “Did I lock the garage?”  Well you don’t have to worry about this if you have Advantage Air (WA).  Everyone will have this in years to come. Not only will it tell you that you forgot to lock your garage, but will control all lights & fans from your mobile device.  Definitely another game changer.

Sustainable Homes

Along the way, I stumbled into an old work boss – Dan McSharry of McSharry Constructions who was supported by Daniel Kress a high performance specialist in Smart Plus Homes. Both guys are generating great work that will be featured in the coming years e.g. Energy efficient and sustainable timber homes. Dan mentioned that they’re starting works down in Burns beach on their first build. Cant wait to see the end product guys!

Hours passed and now there was no sign of Oliver (he probably got bored with all my talking to the suppliers and tradies) so a quick call and I was able to find him in Eco town.  This is what I was waiting for – Tiny homes on wheels focusing on the sustainability and making homes in Western Australia more eco-friendly. I have to say, I loved all the homes displayed here.  The camper vans have been around for donkeys’ years but the tiny homes now created are exquisite.  It’s like your own mini home from home.  They are well designed and just beautiful- from sliding doors, to upstairs bedrooms.  It’s a dream I hope to achieve in later years.

From live cooking  presentations, to home theater room packages, massage chairs for those who needed that 5 minute rest, to building companies that can build your dream home, not to mention Elon Musk’s new toy – the Telsa electric car.  These are going be everywhere in years to come.  An amazing piece of machinery like something from back to the future with doors with no handles opening like wings on a small aircraft. #prettycool

Until the Next Show

So for a free event by getting your tickets online, the Home Show in Perth was a great event all round. I made some connections and look forward to working with fellow suppliers and trades in the coming years.  I’ll definitely be coming back to the next Home Show.

Wishing you all well.
